Consultation and Intake Services

To get started for Neuromodulation/Neurostimulation Treatment:

Initial Evaluation for Treatment [1/3] (60mins; $963 – connection to source)

This is the formal intake and evaluation process in which the doctor verbally assesses the patient about their medical history, reasons for coming in, goals for treatment, etc.

EEG Brain Map [2/3] (60mins; $0)

EEG is the measurement, using digital technology, of electrical patterns at the surface of the scalp which primarily reflect brainwave activity on the cortex (the “ bark” of the brain). Neurotherapists use this knowledge to adjust cerebral function towards ideals with operant conditioning, counseling, and neurotherapy.

Quantitative Electroencephalograph (EEG) Analysis [3/3] (60mins; $0)

Quantitative EEG, or “brain mapping” is a way of assessing the operation and functionality of the client’s brain with the comparison of normative and clinical databases, and the processing of 20 minutes of brainwaves (EEG) recording.

This process involves two office visits (one for EEG acquisition and a follow up review), as well as a highly customized report, reflecting the state-of-the-art assessment and analysis software at Neurofield, written by either Dr. Dogris or Dr. Thompson. We do not buy “canned” reports generated by software programs, but rather pride ourselves on composing individualized reports accessible to the lay person and client.

Other Consultation and Intake Services

Initial Consultation “kicking the tires” (30mins; $108)

This is not an intake process, but a means for the client and clinician to meet and determine what the appropriate course of action is for the presenting problem. During this initial meeting, we explain the nature of our psychotherapy and answer any questions the client may have.

Initial Consultation (60mins; $200)

This is not an intake process, but a means for the client and clinician to meet and determine what the appropriate course of action is for the presenting problem. During this initial meeting, we explain the nature of our psychotherapy and answer any questions the client may have.

EMDR Intake (60mins; $200)

Would categorize this as a medical evaluation or consultation with the doctor to assess if patient is the right candidate for EMDR treatment.

Follow-Up EEG Brain Map Review (30mins; $100)

The appointment occurs after a patient has completed a round of neurostimulation treatment and is meeting with the doctor to compare their pre-treatment EEG Brain Map to the post-treatment EEG Brain Map to determine progress. During the appointment the doctor will also give their professional recommendation on what the next steps are, e.g. further treatment, intermittent follow-up appointments, or being discharged.

Treatment Options

Neurostimulation/Neuromodulation (60mins; $150)

Neurostimulation (also known as neuromodulation) is what makes us different from other neurofeedback practitioners. We are the inventors of Neurofield’s neurotherapy system, which is known for the blending of neurostimulation into neurofeedback training. Neurostimulation involves the use of gentle electric currents to modulate neuronal activity.

Neurostimulation not only sets us apart, but because of Neurofield’s inventions, there are thousands of individuals using Neurofield equipment in their clinical practices.

Neurostimulation, at the clinical level, is comprised of transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS), transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), transcranial random noise stimulation (tRNS) and pulsed electro-magnetic field stimulation (PEMF).

These various modalities are used in customized and nuanced ways to aid our clients’ brain and body function.

Photo Biomodulation Light Therapy (add-on to Neurostimulation) ($0)

Photobiomodulation is a form of low-level light therapy. Light energy in the form of photons can be absorbed by neural mitochondria, an organelle which produces energy within the cell. Low level light therapy can also promote enzymatic activity, increasing ATP production.

Photobiomodulation additionally catalyzes chemical activity in the brain leading to improved production of protective and supportive chemicals. Photobiomodulation in conjunction with neurostimulation supports the metabolic processes related to healing and neuroplasticity.

Neurofeedback (60mins; $150)

Neurofeedback is called many things. It is referred to as EEG biofeedback, neuro-biofeedback, neurotherapy, and brain wave training. These terms are often used interchangeably.

Neurofeedback training is effective for many conditions, such as head injuries, neuroses and anxieties, and a variety of conditions regulated by brain wave function.

Neurofeedback is a therapeutic intervention that presents the client with real-time feedback on brainwave activity, as measured by sensors on the scalp, and typically in the form of visual or audio rewards.

The number of sensors determines if the clinician is doing “single channel” or “full cap” EEG. We do both. We also use a variety of neurofeedback methods and modalities. When brain activity (amplitude or connectivity) changes in the direction desired by the customized neurofeedback protocol, a positive "reward" feedback is given to the individual. Most neurofeedback methods train brain waves to create conditioned self-regulation

NeurOptimal (60mins; $150)

NeurOptimal® is a form of neurofeeback focused on optimizing brain activity through induction of neuroplasticity. The NeurOptimal® system integrates electrical signals from the central nervous system to encourage optimal cognitive flexibility and a more adaptive mind. NeurOptimal® utilizes an auditory stimulus to inform the brain when it is and isn’t performing optimally.

Alpha/Theta Neurofeedback (60mins; $150)

Alpha-Theta training is a form of neurofeedback that seeks to balance ideal amplitude and frequencies of alpha and theta brain waves. Using soothing sounds and guided relaxation, Alpha-Theta training sessions seek to promote a state of peace conducive to healing and resilience to stress.

Psychotherapy (60mins; $200)

Dr. Dogris and Dr. Thompson are both licensed psychotherapy providers. Dr. Dogris is a licensed psychologist and Dr. Thompson is a licensed psychotherapist. Dr. Dogris specializes in trauma therapy, is trained in EMDR, cognitive behavioral therapy, family systems therapy, and psychodynamic therapy. For 30+ years he has worked with a diverse population of children, adolescents, adults, and seniors.

Dr. Thompson is a depth psychotherapist who is trained in Jungian psychotherapeutic modalities. She works with individuals, couples, and families

We weave psychotherapy into our work with many of our clients. We believe the mind and the brain are inextricably linked.

Psychotherapy-Neurotherapy Blended Sessions (60mins; $200)

These sessions are unique in that they blend psychotherapeutic work with neurostimulation work. The physiological manifestation of the condition (seen in the EEG, the quantitative EEG (“qEEG,” also known as a “brain map”), and in the body) is often present in the mind and the emotions, emerging as various complexes, psychopathologies, forms of repression, suppression, and denial.

Put another way, the psychological creation of a condition, as seen in a client’s symptomology, behavior, state of mind, and presentation, can be linked to physical findings. So, in many cases, the emotional and psychological life of a client is an important consideration in the neurotherapy process. We typically see our patients for psychotherapy on a weekly basis or as needed.

Couple’s Counseling (60mins; $200)

A psychotherapy session involving romantic partners or two people in a relationship. Couple’s counseling involves the use psychotherapeutic methods to improve relationship quality.

EMDR (60mins; $200)

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences.  Repeated studies show that by using EMDR therapy people can experience the benefits of psychotherapy that once took years to make a difference. It is widely assumed that severe emotional pain requires a long time to heal.

EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma.  When you cut your hand, your body works to close the wound.  If a foreign object or repeated injury irritates the wound, it festers and causes pain.  Once the block is removed, healing resumes.

EMDR therapy demonstrates that a similar sequence of events occurs with mental processes.  The brain’s information processing system naturally moves toward mental health.  If the system is blocked or imbalanced by the impact of a disturbing event, the emotional wound festers and can cause intense suffering.  Once the block is removed, healing resumes.

Using the detailed protocols and procedures learned in EMDR therapy training sessions, clinicians help clients activate their natural healing processes.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) (60mins; $100)

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is a type of treatment used to speed up healing of carbon monoxide poisoning, gangrene, wounds that won't heal, and infections in which tissues are starved for oxygen.

For this therapy, you enter a special chamber to breathe in pure oxygen in air pressure levels 1.5 to 3 times higher than average. The goal is to fill the blood with enough oxygen to repair tissues and restore normal body function.

Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy (VRET) (60mins; $150 solely or as add-on to treatment)

Virtual reality exposure therapy (VRET) is a form of exposure therapy that uses VR technology. Exposure therapy seeks to help decrease the intensity of the stress responses you might have to situations, thoughts, or memories which provoke anxiety or fear. In a controlled and safe environment, you are exposed to your PTSD triggers.

In some cases, it is difficult to recreate the experiences that led to your PTSD, like military-related combat or severe motor vehicle accidents, for example. VRET can safely mimic those situations and provide an environment that can simulate the person’s real-life experience.

SCENAR Cosmodic (60mins; $200)

The Scenar Cosmodic was originally developed to help Russian cosmonauts treat their injuries and diseases quickly and efficiently while in space, the Cosmodic is straightforward and effective. It is a biofeedback technology that uses adapting electrical microresonances to locate cells with dysregulated energy signals, clears the cellular memory of these dysregulations by breaking up “energy cysts”, and changes the pattern of stimulation in accordance with the body’s reaction.

In doing this, the Cosmodic stimulation communicates with the entire dysregulated system from the focal injury to the Central Nervous system, and directs bodily resources towards the injured location, emulating and enhancing the body’s natural healing properties. In this way, the Cosmodic stimulator does more than heal the body, it rejuvenates it and can potentially make it stronger than it was before.

Testing and Assessments

Electroencephalograph (EEG) Brain Map (60mins; $150)

EEG is the measurement, using digital technology, of electrical patterns at the surface of the scalp which primarily reflect brainwave activity on the cortex (the “ bark” of the brain). Neurotherapists use this knowledge to adjust cerebral function towards ideals with operant conditioning, counseling, and neuromodulation. Brain mapping is analyzing the electrical activity or "brainwaves."

Event Related Potentials (ERP) Task (add-on EEG Brain Map; $0)

An engaging clicking task designed to measure the brain’s response to stimuli on a microsecond response-time scale. The task uses EEG to measure changes in brain voltage relative to the presence or absence of an auditory or visual stimulus. The ERP task can also measure voltage changes in the brain relative to motor preparation and motor execution responses to a stimulus.
